Dear Emergency Preparedness Network (EPN):

The Maryland Department of Health's Office of Preparedness and Response (MDH OP&R) has provided the following announcements from the National Weather Service (NWS) and MEMA (MEMA Emergency Management Agency), as of October 16, 2021. 

The following are briefings from the National Weather Service offices for  for Maryland, Saturday, October 16, 2021.

A Rapid Change, with Severe Thunderstorms Possible Today

  • For the severe storm threat: Saturday morning west of the Blue Ridge, Saturday afternoon east of the Blue Ridge.

  • A strong cold front will move through the region on Saturday and likely bring showers and thunderstorms.
  • A few of those storms could be severe with localized damaging wind gusts.
  • Much cooler and breezy conditions will move in after the front passes.
