The Maryland Department of Health's Office of Preparedness and Response (MDH OP&R) has provided the following announcements from the National Weather Service (NWS) and MEMA (MEMA Emergency Management Agency), as of Wednesday, July 14, 2021

The following are briefings from the National Weather Service offices for Baltimore/Washington  for Wednesday, July 14, 2021, Saturday, July 17, 2021, and Sunday, July 18, 2021.


Severe/Flood and Heat Risk; Today, Saturday, and Sunday Afternoons

  • Isolated severe thunderstorms with damaging wind gusts are possible this afternoon mainly east of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
  • A slow moving cold front will approach the area this weekend and eventually move through the area early next week. This front may bring multiple hazards from severe thunderstorms to flash flooding.
  • High heat indices are also possible Saturday afternoon.
