About this Event

This train the trainer webinar will provide information and resources to enable direct caregivers to recognize and screen for signs and symptoms of common psychiatric (anxiety, depression, psychosis) and cognitive issues (mild cognitive impairment, dementia, delirium) presented by older adults living independently. Also discussed will be the steps and process for accessing additional supports and interventions to proactively address these medical and mental health needs. Finally, participants will learn strategies and resources to assist in-home direct caregivers in managing their stress and grief secondary to the COVID pandemic crisis.


About the Speaker


Jodi L. French, Psy. D.

Neuropsychologist

Jodi L. French, Psy.D. is a neuropsychologist and currently provides mental health services to residents living in long-term care neighborhoods as well as managing a private practice, Chesapeake Behavioral Health LLC. She earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from the Virginia Consortium for Clinical Psychology in 1991. She completed a major rotation in gero-neuropsychology during her predoctoral internship at the Perry Point VAMC, which she completed in 1990. Dr. French also completed a two-year postdoctoral residency in clinical neuropsychology at the Fielding University in 1998. In addition, she worked as a consultant psychologist to community nursing homes and assisted living facilities in Virginia and Florida from 1995 to 1998. Since then, Dr. French has provided outpatient mental health services to aging adults and their families and caregivers in a private practice setting. In addition, she has been working full-time providing mental health services to residents of long-term care facilities since 2008.
