About this Workshop

COVID vaccinations are still lagging among home care workers. The Kaiser Family Foundation and the Washington Post conducted a survey, and it showed that only 26% of home healthcare workers had received the COVID vaccine. Home care workers are lagging behind their counterparts in nursing homes (50% vaccinated) and hospitals. Most caregivers are on a continuum, seeking information from trusted sources and waiting to see how the COVID vaccines impact the lives and health of people who they know and love.

EPN has organized a series of 3-hour workshops to offer an intensive training experience for COVID Vaccine Champions at Maryland and Washington DC home care agencies. Send people from your team who are already trusted by your frontline caregiver staff and who want to serve as vaccine champions. The workshop series will feature presentations and discussions on the following topics:

  • Leadership strategies that have worked to increase vaccine uptake
  • Engaging caregivers about the vaccine with respect and an open mind
  • Caregiver anxieties about vaccine safety and drivers of vaccine hesitancy
  • Explaining the science behind common vaccine myths in plain language
  • Communication strategies that have worked to increase vaccine uptake at other home care agencies

Through this transformative training, vaccine champions will gain the skills to create spaces and conversations that engage caregivers, leveraging pre-existing trusted relationships with caregivers. Presenters and discussants will contribute perspectives from home care agency leadership, professional caregivers, and experienced vaccine champions. Join Dr. Charlene Brown, public health physician expert and Founder of Learn Care Together, a public health consulting firm that is currently working with agencies on caregiver vaccine confidence. Dr. Brown leads this workshop series, invites speakers, and borrows from her own experience coaching home care agencies on increasing COVID vaccine uptake.
